The short version
- You need to be 13 or older for an account, and 18 or older to back a raise, raise money or be paid.
- A game you buy or are given is yours to play, under a licence: you don’t buy the game itself.
- Payments are in digital dollars (USDC) on the Base network, from a wallet that is yours. Player Two never holds your wallet’s keys.
- Backing a raise is risky: a game can be late, change, or never be finished. Only put in what you can afford to lose.
- Follow the content policy. We can take down what breaks it and close the accounts that do.
- Player Two is provided as it is, and our liability is limited as far as the law allows.
Who we are
Player Two (“we”) runs playertwo.lol, the Player Two app and the services on them. You can reach us at hello@playertwo.lol.
By making an account, buying, backing, listing or playing, you agree to these terms, the content policy and the privacy policy. Developers also agree to the developer terms.
We may change these terms. When we do, this page gets a new date, and we email you about any change that matters. Using Player Two after a change means you accept it.
Your account
- One person, one account. Keep your sign-in safe: you are responsible for what happens on your account.
- You must be 13 or older, or the minimum age where you live if it is higher. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
- Your handle, name and picture must not impersonate anyone or break the content policy.
- You can download your data, and delete your account, at any time from your profile.
Your wallet and payments
- Signing in gives you a wallet, made and secured by Privy, our wallet provider. Its keys are yours; Player Two can’t move your money without your approval.
- Prices are in US dollars, paid in USDC on Base. Adding funds by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank runs through a payment provider on its own terms, and it may charge its own fee. Player Two adds no fee to top-ups and pays the network fees on payments and payouts.
- A payment on a blockchain is public, and we can’t reverse it. Check before you approve one.
- Where the law requires a sales tax, we include it or show it before you pay.
Games and your library
- When you buy or add a game, you get a personal licence to play it for as long as it stays on your account. You can’t sell, rent or share it.
- Developers update their games: features can come and go.
- A gift goes into your friend’s library for good. A key from a developer gives you a copy the same way.
- If its developer takes a game down, players who have it keep it. If we take a game down for breaking the content policy, it can leave players’ libraries too.
Refunds
- Pay twice for a game you already own, and the second payment goes straight back to your wallet.
- Otherwise purchases are final, except where the law gives you a right to cancel or to a refund.
- In the EU, the UK and some other places you normally have 14 days to cancel a digital purchase. A game here is yours to play the moment you buy it: buying it, you ask for it to be supplied at once, and you agree that this ends that right to cancel.
- Raises have refunds of their own, below.
Raises and backing
On the launchpad, developers raise money for games still being made. A raise gives its backers either a share of the game’s sales on Player Two, or rewards only; its page says which.
- Player Two holds the money raised and pays it to the developer stage by stage, on proof, less 5%. A late stage goes to a vote of its backers: more time, or what’s left back.
- If a raise closes short of its goal, every backer is refunded in full.
- A share of sales pays only from the game’s sales on Player Two, as its page sets out. It is not a share of the studio, a loan or a promise of any return.
- Rewards are the developer’s promise. We can’t guarantee them, but a developer who doesn’t deliver breaks our rules.
- You must be 18 or older to back a raise. Some countries limit or forbid backing for a share of sales; you are responsible for the rules where you live.
What you post
Reviews, topics, answers, pictures and everything else you post stay yours. You give Player Two a worldwide, free licence to host, show and share them on Player Two and when we promote it, for as long as they are up. Don’t post anything that breaks the content policy or someone else’s rights.
What you can't do
- Break the law, the content policy, or anyone’s rights.
- Cheat, abuse bugs, or use bots, scripts or many accounts to get an edge, inflate counts, or bend votes, leaderboards or reviews.
- Attack, overload, scrape or take apart the platform, or get around its limits and protections.
- Resell, rent or share copies, keys or accounts.
Copyright complaints
If you believe something on Player Two infringes your rights, email hello@playertwo.lol with: what it is and where it is, the work it infringes, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn’t allowed and that what you say is accurate. If it’s well founded we take it down and tell whoever posted it, who can answer it.
Ending things
You can stop using Player Two and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the content policy, or when the law requires it; where we can, we say why. Records of money stay, as the privacy policy explains.
Liability
- Player Two is provided “as is”. We don’t promise it will always be available, free of errors or secure.
- We aren’t responsible for the games developers make, for what other players do, or for the blockchains, wallets and payment providers we don’t run.
- As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses, and our total liability to you is what you paid Player Two in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits a right the law gives you that can’t be limited.
Disputes
Tell us first: most things can be sorted out by email. If they can’t, these terms are governed by the law of the place where Player Two is established, and you keep any right the law where you live gives you to bring a claim there.
