What can go on Player Two, what can’t, and what we do when something breaks the rules. It covers every game, page, post, build and account on the platform.

On this page

The short version

  • List games you made, or have the right to publish and sell.
  • No malware, scams, stolen or infringing work, hate, harassment, sexual content involving minors, or impersonation.
  • Fan games of other people’s characters are allowed only if they’re clearly unofficial, and they come down when the owner asks.
  • Raises must be honest. Backers can object to proof and vote, and Player Two reviews when too few vote.
  • Anyone can report a game. A person at Player Two looks at every report.
  • We can warn, take a game down, refund backers and ban accounts. You can appeal any decision by email.

What may be listed

Player Two is open: any developer with an account can list a game, and it goes live the moment it’s submitted. You may list:

  • Games you made, or have the rights to publish and sell, with everything in them: code, art, music, sound, video and writing. Use other people’s assets only as their licence allows.
  • Finished games, demos and early builds in the store, free or paid.
  • Games still being made, raising money on the launchpad, with a plan you mean to deliver.

A game’s page has to describe the game honestly. Its pictures, trailer and plan should show what players will actually get.

What isn’t allowed

  • MalwareAnything that harms players, their devices or their accounts: viruses, spyware, hidden miners, code that steals passwords, keys or wallets, or a build that tries to break out of its sandbox.
  • ScamsRaising money with no plan to make the game, posting fake proof, or a page that misleads players about what they are buying or backing.
  • Stolen or infringing workSomeone else’s game, or art, music, code or characters you don’t have the rights to, including a game re-uploaded by someone who didn’t make it. Fan games are covered below.
  • HateAttacking or demeaning people for who they are: their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or a serious illness.
  • HarassmentThreats, bullying, singling someone out, or sharing someone’s private information.
  • Sexual content involving minorsNever, in any form, drawn or generated included. We remove it at once, close the account for good and report it to the authorities.
  • ImpersonationPretending to be another person, studio or company, or to be Player Two. Names like Admin, Support and Player Two are kept for us.

These hold for everything on Player Two: games and their pages, reviews, and players’ names, handles, pictures and bios. A picture or bio that breaks them is taken down, and its player is told why.

Fan games

A fan game uses characters or worlds that belong to someone else. You may list one only if it’s clearly unofficial:

  • Say so on its page. The short note after the tagline is made for it, as in “an unofficial fan game”.
  • Don’t suggest that the owner of those characters made it, backs it or approves of it.

If the owner of the characters asks us to take a fan game down, we do. If backers’ money is riding on it, we settle with them first: what hasn’t been paid out goes back to them.

The integrity of raises

Backers trust a raise with real money, so raises run by rules that protect them:

  • Raised money is held by Player Two and paid to the developer stage by stage, only once each stage is proven.
  • Proof must be real and checkable: a link backers can open.
  • Backers have 3 days to object to proof. An objection, or a missed deadline, opens a 5-day vote of backers, weighted by the dollars each backed.
  • A vote counts only if backers holding at least 20% of the money vote. If too few vote, Player Two reviews the stage and decides: pay it, give more time, or refund what’s left.
  • Developers can’t back, object to or vote on their own games, from their own account or any other.
  • For now, a Player Two admin reviews every payout before it’s sent.

If we find a raise is a scam, we take it down and refund backers what hasn’t been paid out. How raises work, step by step, is in the documentation.

Developer identity checks

Only developers who raise money are checked. Before a raise can take any, and before any of its stages is paid out, its developer proves who they are with Didit, our identity partner. Players, and developers who only sell their games or give them away, are never asked. The check takes:

  • A photo of an official ID
  • A selfie
  • 18 or older

Didit checks the document is real and the selfie matches it. Player Two keeps only the name on the ID and the country that issued it; the photos stay with Didit. A check Didit can’t decide is reviewed by a person. Until it passes, the raise can’t take money.

How reports work

Anyone can report a game, signed in or not. Press Report this game at the foot of its page, choose what’s wrong, and add anything that helps us check. The choices are:

  • A scam, or money taken without making it
  • Someone else’s game or art
  • It doesn’t work
  • Hateful or harmful
  • Spam
  • Something else

You can also email hello@playertwo.lol with a link and what you saw. A person at Player Two looks at every report.

What Player Two does

We choose the step that fits what happened. The most serious cases, like malware, scams and sexual content involving minors, go straight to a takedown and a ban.

What we can do
StepWhat happens
WarningWe tell the developer what’s wrong and what to change.
TakedownThe game comes off the store and the launchpad, and its page is no longer public.
RefundBackers get back what hasn’t been paid out of a raise, in proportion to their stakes.
BanThe account can no longer buy, back, vote, post or submit anything.

A developer can take their own game down from their studio while no backer’s money is riding on it. Once backers have money in it, only Player Two can, after settling with them.

Appeals

If we took your game down, refunded your raise or banned your account and you think we got it wrong, email hello@playertwo.lol. Tell us which game or account, and why. A person reads every appeal, and we reply.
